This painting is executed with just a palette knife. The vivid orange autumn trees are complemented against ultramarine and cobalt blue mountains. The raging river repeats the same dramatic movement as the stormy grey-blue sky overhead. The carved out palette knife strokes in this painting suit the foreboding mood that is so typical of the storms that occur in the rainy BC mountains.
