This colourful sunset scene was painted on the last cold day of winter in colony farms, Coquitlam.  This pond had ice on it and the purple of the sky was reflected on the icy surface with the yellow cattail reeds poking through. The trees in the distance appear like fire as the glow of the sun brought out the red colour of the branches. This is an impressionistic style painting characterized by expressive brushstrokes.
